Hadar in 1992
Hadar was first seen in 1992 and may have been 2-3 years old.
At one time he was the faithful husband of all the mares on the island and was the alpha stallion with a bevy of beauties to choose from, but his favorite mare was Hamal. She eventually went lame in both forelegs however and Hadar let the rest of the herd go, most likely to Mimosa. Hadar simply stayed with Hamal. After she died he was with the stallions outside the Preserve. By this time Hadar was aging and began hanging out with Achernar, always together until Achernar’s death this past July. Milanne hasn’t been able to get back out to see if he’s ok due to needed tractor repairs and trying to arrange a flyover. Hadar is now very grey around the face, though when last seen he appeared to be doing well, but he’s all alone since his lady and now his close friend Achernar have passed on.
