Meetings Held With Government Officials

In January, 2000, Milanne (Mimi) Rehor, president of Arkwild Inc., met with several officials of the Department of Agriculture of the Bahamas to emphasize the precarious situation of the horses. Dr. Geoffrey Lyn, Dr. Maurice Isaacs and Mr. Eric Carey were given copies of an outline for an emergency program to save the horses, they were given copies of DNA results to that date and other information. Since Marsh Harbour has its own Agricultural Officer it was suggested that he could expedite some of the needs of the Wild Horse Project.

Among the top most concerns are formation of a preserve for the horses within a larger conservation area and control of the local dog population which is an ongoing problem we have yet to be able to solve.

A similar meeting was held in May, with all topics still under consideration by the government.
