AWHF Takes Part In Bidoversity Project

The Bahamas have been selected by the United Nations Environment Programme as one of ten countries participating in a Biodiversity Data Management Project. A primary objective of this project is to identify all sources of data on Bahamian biodiversity. The ultimate output will be a National Biodiversity Data Management Plan.

The Commonwealth of the Bahamas ratified the Convention on Biological Diversity in 1993. Ratification committed the Bahamas ". . .to conserve biolgical resources sustainably and to share equitably the benefits arising from the use of genetic resources." The Abaco Wild Horse Fund completed two questionnaires for the program and offered its experience in on-line dissemination of information to the program. The AWHF looks forward to further participation in this project.
